Head in the clouds,
Gravity centered.
Rae Bass is a Denver based creative whose work blurs the line between reality and reverie, inhabiting the sliver of space between waking life and dreams. Her images conjure worlds that are tactile yet elusive, where memory and imagination weave richly textured environments.
Raised barefoot and curious in rural North Carolina, Rae’s early experiences continue to inform her practice. She is known for constructing immersive imagery rich with detail and narrative. These imagined spaces are at once alluring and unsettling, where the impossible quietly insists on being real, where wonder and unease move hand in hand. Her work is less about telling a single story and more about opening a door, an invitation not just to witness but to wonder, to get lost and to discover one’s own resonance within its shadows and its light.
With a background in fine art photography and more than a decade of image making, Rae recently expanded her practice to include painting and wet plate photography. Her work has been exhibited internationally and featured in both print and online publications.
